Traveling takes a lot out of you. What a terrible lesson to learn.
Days after my return from blogher I was hit with the flu. I think this was Tuesday. It was horrible. Fever, chills, aches, headache, and that can't-get-comfortable-anywhere feeling. I wore pajamas for days. Jeans? What are those?
We even had to cancel our weekend plans - we were going to drive to Toronto for my sister's birthday - which really sucked. Friday I was feeling a little better. I was able to wear something besides jammies and even go outside and check out the sprouting buds but that cough still destroyed me.
Saturday we had a guy come give us an estimate to replace the windows in our house. Only it wasn't just an estimate, it was like a sermon, for goodness sake. He got here at 10am and didn't leave until after 1pm. He gave us an outrageous estimate to replace the windows and then put pressure on us to sign a contract that day. Puh, whatever. We told him we'd let him know later that day. After a bit of research and talking we decided to look at other window companies.
But that visit totally exhausted me. We headed out for a quick bite, then had a nap and for the rest of the day I was miserable. Coughing and aching and just being miserable. I haven't even eaten anything since lunch yesterday.
So today I'm going to try to get some rest so that maybe by tomorrow I'll feel good enough to spend some time with my sister on her birthday.
My inbox is ridiculously huge and I don't even have enough energy to sort through it all....
blah. so that's me.

It's class number two to me because I missed the first three. There are only three more. I was in Scotland for class one, NYC for class two, and home with the flu for class three.
Last week was tell a story and I bored the class with pictures of my kitties. And I learned nott o be afraid of the crop.
This week was patterns. I love patterns. I think something about the order of patterns appeals to the obsessive compulsive side of me. Oh yes, there IS an obsessive compulsive side. Somehow I don't think you're surprised.
So pattern class was great, and the teacher LOVED my shots. He even took one home with him so that he could print it as 11x14 for me. He's inspired me to create a collage. This may end up on a wall in my house.
For now, I'm smiling ear to ear, pretty pleased that I did well. Janet and mom kicked arse, too!

Janet sent me the following interview questions the other day. If you'd like to be interviewed, see the instructions at the end of this entry.
1. What do you do for a living and do you enjoy it?
I am a Content Manager for a web site/on-line community and I love it! It's a start-up so it's really fast-paced and the hours are more than my previous big-company job. But I get to work from home, travel occasionally (to Scotland!), work with some amazingly talented people, and get to really be creative. The money ain't bad, either ;)
2. What sort of qualities do you look for in a friend?
Someone who will put up with my bs. And I'm not kidding either. I'm not anywhere near perfect, and I like to pretend that I am and tell everyone what to do. I'm a know-it all. I look for friends who are a heck of a lot of fun, who are smart, talented and optimistic, and who really care to get to know who I really am.
3. Of all the places you've been on vacation, which did you like the best and why?
It's funny, but that best place I can remember was when Jimbo and I went to Portsmouth last March. The weather was bad, it was in the middle of the week and it was only two days, but we had the (fancy!) hotel (and pool!) virtually to ourselves and we had TONS of fun. Just goes to show that it's the little things that matter.
4. What scent or smell brings back a great memory each time you smell it?
Men's Curve cologne.
5. How would you do things differently if you were Amelie?
I wouldn't. The movie is perfect just the way it is. I wish that I could be more like Amelie and know just the right things to do to cheer people up.
If you want to be interviewed by me, please leave me a comment or send an email saying: "Interview me." (or the like).
