Heading to gd Florida tomorrow. Lord have mercy, I swear if I didn't have this to look forward to, I would be one one mfing sorry state.
Yar, so I'm leaving the lappy here. It's a long, long time without her, and I'll miss her but it's time for some separation.
Dudes, Bed Deb, Laura, Janet and I are going to have a effing amazing time. Duuuuuuuuuude. Florida in December. Duuuudes, hanging out in the pool....duuuuuuuudes.
I'm just back from Florida with the lovely Deb, Laura and Janet. What a great time! I wish I could write about it but work is le crazy! Many thanks to Deb & Laura for a wonderful time!
Oh how I miss blogging for fun! My poor, sad neglected blog. It's been crazy!
As I said previously, I had an absolutely fabulous time many thanks to Deb and Laura for housing my freeloading arse, and for Janey for being my uber-fun chaperone.
Had I not had this lovely vacation, I think I might have fallen right off the deep end. It's insane at work as it has been for nearly a year. I wonder if it can possibly get even more insane, but I'd rather not find out. We are out straight and this will be the busiest week ever. Perfect timing, eh?
I'm finished with 95% of my Christmas shopping and spent the past two days on the floor wrapping. I'm so glad that's done! Now, I'm putting together a grocery list for my holiday treats and planning the menu for Christmas. Yes, Jimbo and I are hosting his family for Christmas this year. Then we'll be spending the rest of the night at home. Everyone is welcome to visit Christmas night for desserts and snacks and alcoholic beverages.
We had my work Christmas party on Friday and I wouldn't be me if I didn't end up drunk. I most certainly did. Today we've been hanging around, had a little play date with Giz, Lauren and Rich with the chickens. What a blast. Tonight we have Jimbo's work Christmas party and I'm looking forward to free foods and drinks! Not looking forward to work tomorrow, though.
Which reminds me, I'm off to iron my clothes for the week! Must do Christmas cards, too. Ugh!!! After the first of the year, I'm crossing lots of things off my todo list and then I'm not taking on any more projects besides reading, playing, and A Girl Must Shop. I'm not taking on any more design clients for the time being while I enjoy peace and quiet and the joy of designing for friends and people who enjoy my work.
It was a Monday, it was totally a Monday. Long day at work, headache, the works. I get home from work, get into my jammies and site down and relax. Then BOOOM!!!! Wholey moley, it felt like the house was falling down.
Then again an hour later, then a half hour later and just now, one more time. I look it up and find this article in the paper. Controlled Demotion!?
Jimbo calls the Fire Department who tells them it was controlled, everything is ok, and that it won't happen anymore tonight. Jiminy cricket! Why don't they inform people that this is going to happen; it nearly scared me out of my wits. Definitely not the thing I was looking forward to on a Monday night. I tell ya, it got me thinking about explosions and terrorism and the like and that's not a fun thing to think about.
Stopped for groceries after my weekend walk with Kristen, but I couldn't find my wallet. Wasn't at home, either. Thank God the movie theater that Jimbo and I went to last night had it.
Then Jimbo and I went grocery shopping. He asked me for the keys when we got to the car and I didn't have them. They we in the ignition. In the locked car. With the motor running.
Sheesh! I'm so out of it!
(I won't mention that this is the 2nd time I did it this year)
I cut all my hair off. Can you believe that it was almost 10 inches! That's a lot of hair! It feels so light now and I'm thrilled!
Christmastime is in full effect! That's what my pants told me this morning when I put them on. Yeah, I'm heading to Weight Watchers tonight but I refuse to even look at my weight, since it'll just depress me.
I've been out and about, eating, drinking, more eating, more drinking. Isn't that what the holidays are about? Apparently! Last night it was dinner at Loo's yummmmaaaaayyy! Monday it was dinner and a movie with Janey. Which I also did on Friday. Saturday Jimbo and I did dinner and a movie, too. Thank goodness Sunday was quiet.
It's not like I mind - I really enjoy it. I just know I'm going to mind on January first when I try to lose the 15 pounds that I lost and gained this year. Eh, it's all good.
Really not much else going on. Work slowing down a bit finally. Finished shopping, almost done wrapping. Have been baking up a storm:
This Christmas was absolutely wonderful thanks to some great times with friends and family. I started Christmas early to make sure that I got a chance to spend quality time with all my friends and family.
Monday Janet and I met for din-din and Casino Royale! What a Great movie!
Tuesday my friend Malissa and her darling Hanae stopped by for a quick lunch and then Jimbo and I had dinner and pressies at Loo's new house with Janey and General Loo.
Wednesdays was Weight Watchers. I refused to look at the scale.
Thursday was dinner and gift exchange with the lovely Lauren and Janey with a special appearance by Eileen.
Friday night Janey and I had our first-ever Christmas Date Night. I say first-ever because we totally have to make that a tradition! We started at Sandrines, headed over to the Oak Bar (where this picture was taken), then we walked in the rain to the Four Seasons and had champagne, annisette, and a cheese plate at the bar at Aujourd'hui. Oh yeah, we had warm chocolate cake at the Top of the Hub, too! Stupendous! We had such a wonderful time treating ourselves to all the naughty stuff we love and pretending for one night that we were rich and famous. Rich in friendship, definitely!
Saturday Jimbo and I cleaned and then had John and Kristen over for gifts and dinner and some Sequence crack!
Sunday we cooked and cleaned and then went to his cousin's house for the family's annual Christmas Eve Yankee Swap. That was a really great time. Afterward we stopped my Kristen and John's for a drink then home to open presents!
Christmas morning we hit my mom's house for present opening. Mom got me a Sankotu knife,/a> and pearl set that I've been wanting, along with a zillion other things. Then we made a quick stop at Grammies for presents and chats (Hi Darlene!) before heading home to throw the Butternut Squash Lasagna in the oven. We had his immediate family over for Christmas dinner. It was lovely and cozy and the chickens really enjoyed it.
I just felt like I was so less tired and stressed this Christmas and that was the best gift of all!
Jimbo: Did you ever go to Boston on New Year's Eve?
Me: Yeah, it was a blast. I got drunk on pocket-nips, kissed a stranger during the fireworks at midnight, fell down in the middle of the street, and almost got into a fight.
This year we're having our own party. I'm sure it'll turn out to be just as memorable. I can see Jimbo cringing from here.
